Early Childhood Curriculum

 

Early childhood curriculum is a roadmap of how and what young children learn in an educational enviroment.

Zero to Three 

From birth to 3, a child’s brain produces more than 1 million neural connections each second.

 

  • Language and Literacy- Developing communication through gestures, sounds, and eventually simple sentences. 
  • Social Emotional- Learning to manage emotions, build relationships, and form secure attachments with caregivers.
  • Cognitive and Thinking- Understanding how the world works through cause-and-effect, and beginning to solve simple problems like sorting shapes.
  • Physical/Motor- Rolling over, crawling, walking , running, and developing fine motor skills like holding a crayon or playing in whip cream/shaving cream.   

 

Three to Five 

Children transition from toddlerhood to more structured exploration, building foundational skills for kindergarten.

  • Language and Literacy- Letter recognition, phonological awareness, and vocabulary development
  • Early Math- Sorting, classifying, patterning, and counting.
  • Motor Skills 
    • Fine Motor- using scissors, holding a pencil, using crayons
    • Gross Motor-  Running, jumping, riding a tricycle 
  • Social Emotional- Sharing, taking turns, and identify feelings
